Former Premier Campbell Newman hijacked the political agenda on Thursday in an interview with The Courier Mail, offering up that he had attempted to resign from the LNP leadership, twice, ahead of the last election, as he did not want the Campbell Newman of it all, to pull his 'strong' team down.

It gave his successor Annastacia Palaszczuk the opportunity to talk about something that wasn't Billy Gordon related and she seized on the opportunity.

"I don't think it would have made any difference to the election result," Ms Palaszczuk said of the to-Newman-or-not-to-Newman question.

"Because the public, the people of Queensland, were sick and tired of the arrogance of the LNP, of all the LNP, not just Campbell Newman. They were all responsible for their actions, they divided Queensland."

Katter Party MP said with "hindsight", accepting Mr Newman's offer to resign "might have helped them out".

"I think he was lead weight in the saddle packs, obviously in the end," he said.

But one of Mr Newman's most loyal soldiers, Jarrod Bleijie, former Attorney-General turned shadow police minister, said considering an election result minus the Newman factor was "dealing in hypotheticals".

"The reality was we had a team which went to the 2015 election and the people spoke and we have listened to that," he said.

As to whether Mr Newman should keep his truth-bombs to himself, Mr Bleijie cited democracy.

"What Mr Newman says is up to Mr Newman," he said.

"It is the great democracy we live in, people are free to say what they want.

"...Our position will be that we will put a good case to the people of Queensland that the government they've got is not focussed on the issues that Queenslanders want them to be focussed on, they are too much focussed on internal brawlings and saving their own jobs.

"We're focussed on listening and showing Queenslanders that we do present a credible alternative to the current rabble that is there in the moment."

But he could agree with Ms Palaszczuk on one thing – both will read Mr Newman's forthcoming book.

But before the Gavin King authored tome hits the market, the LNP has some homework to get through – its review into what went wrong at the last election.

Its preliminary research revealed had they known the end election result, 7 per cent of voters would have changed their vote.

With more than 20 of Labor's seat held under that margin, that change of heart could have changed the election outcome.

The party is looking to rebuild and move on from the 2015 election loss.

Lawrence Springborg has made a concerted effort to take a different approach to the leadership, attempting to appear more conciliatory and consultative.
