Greyhound industry members met on Sunday and said they feel let down by the governing body and the Queensland government.

Queensland Greyhound Breeders, Trainers and Owners Association (QGBOTA) president Tony Zammit moved a motion of no confidence in Racing Queensland (RQ) chief executive Darren Condon and chairman Kevin Dixon at a forum last month.

Mr Zammit has since been part of an industry advisory panel that has started to meet monthly with RQ officials and relayed these results to the broader industry.

Mr Zammit and QGBOTA committee member Jeff Jones also told the gathering they met Alan MacSporran QC as part of an inquiry into the sport, which was upgraded to a commission on Friday.

Aspley greyhound trainer and owner, Brenton Wilson, was at the meeting and said a lack of leadership had led to the problems the industry now faces.

"If you allow people to have no direction, you're not putting an investigation in place, you're not acting on complaints and so forth you create an environment where a small minority are going to be doing that,"he said.

Wilson said participants had an element of responsibility but a poor integrity enforcement and a lack of resources being directed into the industry was participants' major cause of frustration.

"Obviously would be some people in the industry who although they weren't on that track, they had heard through a second, third, or fourth person something's going on.

"Is that the responsibility of that person to report it?

"That's where greyhound people have been treated unfairly because, they ask 'how do you not know?'.

"I didn't know it was going on but people talk.

"If we don't have strong stewarding, leadership, integrity services...I believe if we had that in place, this stuff would have been identified many, many years ago.

"I said three years ago the industry was at a tipping point and after what's happened over the last couple of months, it's starting to tip into the negative."

Wilson said he was shocked by recent revelations of a mass greyhound grave at Bundaberg and said the recent turn of events in the industry had tarred many unfairly.

"I'd cry for a week if I had to put down a greyhound," he said.

"That's what most greyhound people are like, they love their dogs they want to race their dogs.

"We don't condone the stuff that was going on."

Fourteen people have been charged as a result of the live baiting scandal, with six trainers banned for life and almost 30 suspended until the conclusion of the investigation.

Racing Queensland reiterated their willingness to cooperate with any investigations on Friday, welcoming the inquiry into the sport.
