Atlas A had three different goal scorers in what was an all-round team effort in earning the three points.
Atlas A player Andrew Fraser was the first to do damage scoring in the 30th minute to give his team the lead going 1-0 into half-time.
Almost immediately after the interval, Atlas A player Brian Silayo grabbed his team’s second goal of the game while player coach Andrew Frahm finished Parkside off with a third goal on the hour mark.
Atlas A new signings Billy Orsag and Evan Veivers were dominant in the middle of the park all game creating a handful of chances up front whereas at the other end Scott Froud was solid in defence.
Parkside A had the last say in the game scoring a goal in the last five minutes to make it 3-1 at full-time.
Atlas A captain Will Cook said his team would have preferred a clean sheet in the end.
“We had a lapse of concentration in the final moments to let them score,” Cook said.
Atlas A player coach Andrew Frahm said the game was won in the shape of their defence.
“What won us the game was our defensive structure and keeping the ball through the midfield. We were able to play majority of the game in their half,” Frahm said.
In the other game, A-Grade newcomers International got their season off to a flying start with a 3-1 win against reigning champions Concordia.
Concordia were first to score through Tom Adam but International replied just before half-time through a Shaun Sloan goal.
In the second period, International ran over their opponents, who were one man short, through goals from Reece Chadwick and Aaron Small.
The Men’s competition will resume in two weeks following a break for Julia Creek Dirt N Dust.
