My Kitchen Rules contestants Jacqui Bakhash and Sharon Sellings – Mount Isa’s most recognisable face – will appear on Million Dollar Minute with funds raised going to NQ RACQ Rescue Helicopter.
Jac and Shaz said they are excited, but at the same time a little bit daunted by the proposition of starring on the show.
“We are trying to not take it too seriously and have fun and try and bring home some money for the NQ RACQ Rescue Helicopter,” they said.
Jac and Shaz said they chose the NQ RACQ Rescue Helicopter because it was a local charity for Mount Isa that serviced a large area and received no government funding.
“It is good to know that they are there when we need them and it is community funded so if we can help it will be great,” they said.
They said RACQ NQ Rescue chief executive officer Alex Dorr was completely rapt and thrilled they chose his charity and if nothing else the show would get publicity for the helicopter service.
Mr Dorr said it was a huge surprise and honour for the girls to pick the RACQ NQ Rescue Helicopter as there charity for the Million Dollar Minute celebrity challenge.
“I was extremely surprised (in a good way) and proud that our charity was the one they had chosen to support,” he said.
“At present we have a number of different projects and fundraisers happening, any monies won by the girls and donated to us will help go towards the $1.5 million a year needed to keep the helicopter in Mount Isa and flying.”
Mr Dorr thanked Jac and Shaz for choosing to support the helicopter.
“It’s a great honour and we are all so proud of the girls,” he said.
