But on Sunday, Opposition Leader Lawrence Springborg would not be drawn on the results of the Galaxy Poll, in which just more than half of respondents, 53 per cent, declared themselves satisfied with her performance as Queensland leader.

"I have always said it's not my intention to be a poll commentator, I'm not going to start today," he said, when asked about the premier's popularity despite having to withstand the emergence of an undisclosed criminal history and allegations of domestic violence against one of her party members, Cook MP Billy Gordon.

Mr Gordon resigned from the party but will remain in parliament as an independent, something 62 per cent of respondents to the poll, which was commissioned by News Corporation Australia, disagreed with.

But Mr Springborg's no-comment stance on the polls is seemingly a selective one.

While he would not talk about Ms Palaszczuk's popularity as the state's leader, he was more than happy to rely on it to support his push to have the Premier change the parliamentary voting rules, implemented by the previous LNP government, to discount Mr Gordon's vote.

The Member for Cook has said he will side with the government.

"The people of Queensland have spoken in this poll, the majority of Queenslanders think Billy Gordon should not be in parliament, therefore it is beholden of the Opposition and the Parliament to work on ways we can reflect that in the parliament," he said.

"(There is) a clear view from the people of Queensland that they support the view of the LNP and the Premier that Billy Gordon shouldn't be in parliament.

"I think what we need to do is work constructively in government and opposition to address that and work on a change to the voting system so that in effect we're not accepting Billy Gordon's  vote, because quite clearly the majority of Queenslanders don't believe Billy Gordon should be in parliament."

Mr Springborg deflected questions about whether such a move was fair to the voters of Cook , who, in the event of discounting Mr Gordon's vote, would effectively be unrepresented in parliament.

"There is concern in their local community that Billy Gordon doesn't have their confidence," he said.

The Opposition Leader was speaking in Brisbane ahead of a two day sojourn to drought-affected outback Queensland to highlight the need for drought assistance.

Earlier in the day, Queensland sports minister Bill Byrne said the poll results favouring Ms Palaszczuk as premier were reflective of her consultative style.

"I do think it may reflect on the marked contrast and the different way we approach government to our predecessors," he said.

"Premier Palaszczuk is very, very focused on consultation and listening to the community.

"She established that as a way of doing business in opposition and I can tell you that's the way we intend to do government as well."

In relation to the poll results surrounding Mr Gordon, Mr Byrne said Ms Palaszczuk had made her stance on any potential change to the parliamentary voting rules clear.

"The premier has made her position clear and of course we support that," he said.
