It comes after the successful relocation of the military gun from George McCoy Park to the West Street median strip.
Mount Isa City Council will now investigate the possibility of placing further items of historical significance across the city.
Councillors agreed that various items currently on display at the area known as the Frank Aston Museum could be restored and placed on display in selected areas of the city.
Mayor McGrady said the idea would complement the success of the QF 25 Pounder gun, which was restored and relocated ahead of Anzac centenary ceremonies.
“It is hoped the move will reinvigorate the rich mining origins of the city and be a major tourism draw card,” Cr McGrady said.
“Mount Isa is a city famous for our mining achievements and culture, so it is only fitting that history is on permanent display for those visiting our city,”
Cr McGrady explained that approval from individuals who have an interest or ownership of the proposed pieces of equipment would be sought prior to any pieces being removed from the Frank Aston Museum.
“Any equipment placed across the city would also be mounted with a plaque explaining its historical significance,” Cr McGrady said.
