Brisbane may be a long way from the beaches of Gallipoli, but the CBD's links to Australia's military history are being proudly shown off to mark the Anzac centenary.

Volunteer group Brisbane Greeters will conduct Anzac walking tours around the city, stopping off at six different sites of significance.
Stops on the free tour include Queens Gardens which houses Australia's first Anzac memorial sculpture, the Shrine of Remembrance, Anzac Square and the MacArthur Museum.
Also on the tour is the 'Battle of Brisbane' site on the corners of Adelaide and Creek streets, where Australian and American soldiers were involved in two nights of rioting.
The twice-daily tours run for 2½ hours and will be on until May 10.
Lord Mayor Graham Quirk said the city's Anzac Day preparations were in full swing, with at least 10,000 people expected to pack Anzac Square for Saturday's dawn service.
Overfill areas with big screens will be set up in King George Square and in the Queen Street Mall, he said.
"Some are suggesting we might even see crowds in the order of 20 or 30 thousand," Cr Quirk said.
"Since the 50th anniversary victory of World War II we have seen crowds continue to grow and in more recent years, as we come towards the centenary of the commemoration of the Anzac, we are seeing increasing crowds every year."
Cr Quirk said he expected to see "significant security" in place following the recent terror threat in Melbourne in which Anzac events were reportedly a target.
"People have got to get about. They've got to do what they normally would do. We're here next Saturday to honour our Anzacs and that should go ahead full-steam," he said.
The council and state government have spent more than $13 million restoring Anzac Square and more than $1 million has been allocated to restore suburban parks hosting Anzac celebrations.
