Vince's tagging masterclass severely hampered Dangerfield's output against the Demons and restricted him to 16 disposals – his lowest tally since round 21, 2013.

Dangerfield was clearly put off by Vince's close checking and Bulldogs vice-captain Jordan Roughead told SEN he could expect more of the same from the Dogs' chief niggler Liam Picken at Etihad Stadium on Sunday.

"Yeah, I think you have to look at it," Roughead said when asked if his team would look to replicate Melbourne's plan for Dangerfield. "Anytime a team uses a tactic that works, you have to certainly look at it and consider it.

"I'm not sure how our match committee see that and whether we're going to go in with the same tactic.

"Mitch Wallis was used as the run-with last year a bit; obviously he is going to miss this week [with a back injury].

"But Liam Picken is probably the other one that's had the role before and he's the sort of guy that anyone from any other club probably hates, but he's one of our most-loved teammates so he might get in there and get the chance."

The Bulldogs will also be missing veteran defender Dale Morris this week after he tore his pectoral muscle against Hawthorn on Sunday and Roughead said both he and Michael Talia would work together to try and stop in-form Adelaide key forward Taylor Walker.

"We're not really going with direct match-ups at the moment, we're using a defensive mindset that we play on anyone – whoever comes to us we're happy to play on," Roughead said.

"Josh Jenkins is a big boy as well, so we're going to have to share a bit of time on both."

Roughead earmarked Fletcher Roberts and Joel Hamling as potential replacements for Morris while he was also hopeful that Matthew Boyd (soreness) and Easton Wood (hamstring) would return against the Crows.
