But there's a catch. The opportunity is being auctioned to support charities as part of a "Great Anzac Auction".
The winning bidder will get to join the discussion at morning news conference, meet the Brisbane Times team, get something off their chest in an article as guided by the editor, and later join editor-in-chief Simon Holt for lunch at Sake Restaurant, Eagle St Pier.
The auction will raise money for Mates4Mates and the Clayfield-Toombul RSL club.
Mates4Mates supports current and former members of the Australian Defence Force in all aspects of their physical and psychological needs – rehabilitation from wounds and injury, counselling, crisis accommodation, help for stressed families and employment.
Clayfield-Toombul Sub-Branch helps meet the costs of medical operations for veterans and their dependants, cares for older veterans, retrains former soldiers, provides comfort packages for ADF members serving overseas, and ensures school students fully understand and appreciate the sacrifices made for their freedom.
Other main items being put up for auction are a cricket bat signed by the Australian Cricket team including the late Phillip Hughes, and a Slouch Hat signed by Victoria Cross recipient Ben Roberts-Smith.
The auction is also selling a lunch with Opposition Leader Lawrence Springborg, and a lunch with Queensland Treasurer Curtis Pitt.
The money raised will be split evenly between Mates4Mates and the Clayfield-Toombul RSL club, with all proceeds going to veterans' welfare.
