The livewire fullback was the surprise points leader in round seven of the NRL. His score of 81 backed up his total of 51 the week before in dominant Titans victories.
Losses haven't been so kind to the No.1 with scores of seven, 20 and 11 in the previous three weeks. He is not the only player to have a correlation between winning and points scoring.
In recent weeks Chris Sandow, Jake Granville, Moses Mbye and James Maloney have all seen a rise and fall depending on the result after 80 minutes. The moral of story is this: don't be afraid to pick players depending on who their team is playing this week. In short, don't be afraid to use every player in your squad. So for instance if you think the Sharks are going to continue their good form against the depleted Panthers it would be a good idea to pick the likes of Luke Lewis, Gerard Beale and Jack Bird.
The same rule applies in reverse, so if a player scores well the week before he shouldn't be an automatic selection the week after, depending on the next opponents.
Ideally you should have six or seven players who bank the majority of your points regardless if their team win, loses or draws. This year the standouts have been Cameron Smith, Simon Mannering, Paul Gallen, James Segeyaro and Daly Cherry-Evans. Finding the balance between these players and the William Zillmans of your roster is the weekly challenge of all Ultimate League coaches. If you look hard enough there is always a way.
