After reading Les Carlyon's Gallipoli, or a sympathetic viewing of Peter Weir's Gallipoli or Sidney Nolan's Anzac paintings, or watching a documentary such as Sam Neill's Why Anzac, or listening to any of the stories that have brought the events of 1915 back to vivid memory, who could honestly feel in the mood for sport?
