Dannan James Allan Pearce appeared by video link in the Mount Isa Magistrates Court on Monday, pleading guilty to being armed with a weapon, four counts of assaulting police while armed, and having prohibited ammunition.
Pearce was arrested in Pioneer, about four hours after police declared an emergency situation under the Public Safety Preservation Act on Monday, January 12.
The emergency situation was declared after Pearce threatened police with the rifle in Mount Isa.
About 5pm police forcibly removed Pearce from the Short Street property.
Magistrate Stephen Guttridge sentenced Pearce to 15 months imprisonment for each of the assault charges, and nine months for possession of a firearm.
These are concurrent terms, meaning Pearce serves these sentences at the same time but due to legislation he must serve the entire nine months’ jail time for being armed with a weapon.
Mr Guttridge set the parole release date to October 11 after tallying 105 days the defendant has spent in custody.
