Police allege a 40-year-old Kippa Ring man went to the victim's home in bayside Margate about 5.45pm on Monday, where a verbal stoush between the pair ensued.
The fight is then alleged to have escalated with the victim being stabbed a number of times in the stomach and chest.
The accused attacker then fled the scene in a car.
Police arrested him a short time later at a home in Kippa Ring.
He has been charged with grievous bodily harm and is due to appear in Redcliffe Magistrates Court on Tuesday.
