But US police believe the UFC fighter may be trying to avoid drama of a different kind by fleeing the scene of a hit-and-run involving a pregnant woman on Sunday.
Jones, who has previously gone by the stage names of Bones and Sexual Chocolate, is wanted for questioning following a three-car crash at an intersection in south-east Albuquerque, New Mexico.
Witnesses said Jones, 27, fled hen returned shortly after to grab "a large handful of cash", according to a crash report cited by the Guardian and uploaded in full to mmafighting.com.
The report cites witnesses seeing a man then running from the scene and jumping a fence.
Police also found marijuana and a pipe in the car, a silver Bruick SUV, along with rental car paperwork in Jones' name.

An off-duty police officer identified the man fleeing the vehicle as Jones, the MMA fighter, according to the report.
A pregnant female in her 20s, who was the driver of another vehicle, was taken to a local hospital for minor injuries, Albuquerque police said in a statement released on Monday.
She told officers at the scene she was struck by the vehicle believed to be driven by Jones after it ran a red light about noon, local time, on a Sunday.
"Officers attempted to contact Mr Jones at his residence Sunday evening, but were unsuccessful," the statement said.
"We have also reached out to his lawyer, but as of now, have not heard back."
Jones, one of the UFC's biggest stars, may not be able to hide for too long.
He is scheduled to defend his light heavyweight title against Anthony Johnson at UFC 187 on May 23 in Las Vegas.
The New Yorker tested positive for cocaine before his January 3 title bout against Daniel Cormier in Las Vegas but the fight went on as scheduled, despite the Nevada Athletic Commission and the UFC being made aware of the test result.
Shortly after the fight, Jones checked into a New Mexico rehab facility but reportedly left after one night.
He became the youngest champion in UFC history when he won the light heavywight title in 2011, aged 23.
