In a blow for Gold Coast, club leaders David Swallow and Nick Malceski will be sidelined for weeks through injury.
Scans have revealed that Swallow strained the posterior cruciate ligament in his right knee during Saturday's loss to GWS.
Swallow will consult with a specialist on Wednesday to determine whether surgery is required, but the young star will miss at least 8-10 weeks.
The Suns' general manager of football operations, Marcus Ashcroft, confirmed the injury on the club website.
"David and the club will determine the most appropriate way to treat the injury after consulting a specialist tomorrow," he said.
"The timeframe that David will be sidelined for is still to be determined. We do know that if no surgery is required he will miss a minimum of 8-10 weeks."
Malceski will miss two weeks with knee soreness. Ashcroft also confirmed that Sam day will miss four to six weeks with a dislocated elbow.
Ashcroft said it was "disappointing" and the injuries place "extra responsibility on our entire playing group".
"However, we are extremely confident that the character of our group will rise to the occasion," he said.
