Early in the 2012 preliminary final against Collingwood, from a scrap inside the defensive 50 metres, Dan Hannebery dished off to the unmarked speedster who looked up to see nearly 100 metres of open space.
The long-striding forward took off and 10 or 11 seconds later, with Magpie Nathan Brown in futile pursuit, caressed a goal that left 57,156 fans in awe and set Sydney on course for the grand final.
Yet, while the 100-game Swan admits reliving that moment brings a smile to his face, he says he is equally proud of a less celebrated feat achieved in the previous match, when he sprinted down a wing to tackle Adelaide's lightning-fast Patrick Dangerfield.
"I just thought 'Stuff it, I'm going to get him' and pretty much just chased him down," Jetta says.
"When it comes to your turn to go you just have to make the tackle. Footy comes down to those little things and defence pretty much wins games. You've got to kick goals to win games - but goals come off the back of good defence."
It is the sign of maturity the 25-year-old brings into the Swans' clash with the Western Bulldogs on Saturday at the Sydney Cricket Ground and into 2015, a season in which Jetta's role goes from being a highlight reel star of slingshot footy to working within a system that demands versatility, including defensive prowess across the ground and discipline in the back half.
Bouncing back from a rotten 2014 grand final and an injury-interrupted year before that, John Longmire has used Jetta partly as a replacement for the departed Nick Malceski, rotating through halfback. It provides him with the opportunity to still use his pace - "If an opportunity comes where there's grass in front of me, I'll definitely take it," Jetta says - but it also presents him with the challenge of honing a wider variety of skills he believes he needs to master to reach his potential as a footballer.
"Around that time, in 2012, every time I went forward there was grass in front of me and I was lucky to get on to most of them," he says.
"But now we've got the big forwards, from [Kurt] Tippett to Buddy [Franklin] to [Adam] Goodes to [Sam] Reid and also Isaac Heeney can take a mark over his head, too.
"We've got a lot of goalkickers. So for me it's just about whether there is that opportunity to run into space. If I get a chance to do that, to kick over the top, then I'll grab it with both hands.
"But, in saying that, I think the challenge for me now is to get the defensive side of my game spot on. I've got a lot to learn about playing defence and working on that side of my game. I want to improve it because I know that if I work hard on my defence, my offence just naturally comes.
"I've just got to keep working hard on my defence and things will happen. I know I've got to work really hard at that if I want to get to my prime."
Jetta's new focus is why at training he is often seen working with defensive coach John Blakey, as well as backmen including Heath Grundy, Ted Richards, Rhyce Shaw and Nick Smith. They make for a well of knowledge Jetta feels lucky to be able to tap into.
"There is no better way to learn that side of the game than by working with those guys," he says.
"They're great players, they win their one-on-one battles and they're hard to play against. Especially Nick Smith, he gets the dangerous forwards week in, week out. He knows a lot about the job and that's where I get around and ask him questions and try to learn about what to do down there.
"Nick goes under the radar, but he plays on Eddie Betts or Cyril Rioli … Most players get a bit daunted about that but Nick just takes it head on and does a good job. That's why I always ask him about how to do it, because I'm in a similar boat, trying to play on the small forwards. He's the best at it. He's the perfect teacher for me."
Jetta is not starting from scratch. He played the majority of his junior football in Western Australia in the back pocket, only moving into a wing and forward role in his late teens. But, as a senior player, his name was made by moments such as the one that night against Collingwood.
"I look back on that moment and it always makes me feel good about what I can do," he says.
"When I'm playing these days as well, I like to be able to grab the ball and take off and run. But you've got to do that and the other things. It could be about making a breaking run and kicking a goal but it could come down to a tackle or spoil that wins the game. The best players are the ones that, whatever the team needs, they're able to do it."
