Before the facelift, the courtyard was looking a bit tired, school administration officer Mary Robertson said.
"The kids had worn dirt tracks in the grass and it really needed an upgrade," she said.
Now, thanks to funding from many organisations in the community, the courtyard has concrete paths, shaded seating, a specially commissioned sandstone sculpture of Mary Mackillop and St Joseph by Ipswich artist Mardi Kearney, and a Mary Mackillop memorial wall and water feature dedicated to the Mitakoodi people, the Josephite sisters and students who died while attending the school.
"On the other side of the memorial wall we have a mural painted by Indigenous artist Arthur Conlan, and that incorporates the hand print of every student in the school," Ms Robertson said.
The students helped with both the memorial wall and the mural.
Principal Bob Grant pointed out the $50,000 worth of solar panels on the school roof, which was part of the project.
"We're very grateful for the huge amount of support we have had from businesses and community organisations to make this courtyard a welcoming and safe place for our students," Mr Grant said.
