Police will allege around 7.30pm, a vehicle attempted to cross the intersection of Zena and Camooweal Streets but collided with a vehicle travelling in the opposite direction.
It will further be alleged, the impact on the second vehicle caused it to travel across several lanes and hit a power pole, bringing down power lines.
Police attended and isolated the scene due to the hazard of the fallen power lines.
The passenger of the second vehicle, a 25-year-old Soldiers Hill woman was pronounced deceased at the scene. The 26-year-old male driver from Sunset was taken to the Mount Isa Base Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Police will allege the driver of the first vehicle returned a positive blood alcohol content (BAC) reading and was subsequently arrested.
An 18-year-old Samford Valley man, the driver and sole occupant of the vehicle, was charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing death while adversely affected by an intoxicating substance.
He is scheduled to appear before the Mount Isa Magistrates Court tomorrow.
