They lost by only two points, Jac and Shaz were complemented by the judges with comments of “a whirl-wind on the palette” and “I felt like a kid again just enjoying life” as they tasted their meals.
At the time of the big reveal, Jac and Shaz were at the Mount Isa Race Club celebrating with family and close friends as they waited for the results.
Mount Isa Mayor Tony McGrady was with the girls at the time that the finale aired and just before the winner was announced the Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszcuk rang Jac and Shaz to wish the girls luck.
Former MKR contestant and Mount Isa resident David Hopgood said the girls did a great job to get to the finals.
“I think they went fantastic and they should be very proud how well then went,” he said.
“When it comes down to the wire it was only to points but even though they have lost the finals they have won a lot of hearts in the outback and certainly put Mount Isa on the Map.”
Mr Hopgood said he had a little bit of advice for those that were thinking about going on the MKR show next.
“If anyone is interested in applying for MKR be fully prepared for an up and down ride,” he said.
“Be very prepared as you will be at their beck and call but it was very worth it and if I had the chance I would do it again.”
Serving up 100 plates in their five course meals and receiving 50 points to Will and Steve’s 52, Jac and Shaz gave it their all.
“We certainly put our hearts into it and went as hard as we could go,” Shaz said.
“Not everything went according to plan but we’re as proud as punch.”
“We will take away the belief that we are capable of anything.”
“I can’t believe we’ve reached the end I’ve been bossing her around for months and she’s handled it like a dream; I just love her to death.”
“We love being together and we love cooking; we’ve had an absolute ball.”
