The chess game between Labor and the LNP over who will chair the state's corruption watchdog's oversight committee has continued, with the government suggesting the Opposition choose anyone but Jeff Seeney.

The government has committed to filling the chair position with someone from outside its ranks. The LNP put forward Jeff Seeney's name and the two parties have been at a stale mate ever since.
The Parliamentary Crime and Corruption Committee chair position is one of the most powerful within the parliamentary committee system, as it carries the deciding vote.
Labor made another move in the deadlocked battle on Thursday, by asking the Opposition to put forward Toowoomba North MP Trevor Watts, who is currently serving as the PCCC acting deputy chair, as its nominee.
Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk released a statement to the media just after 4pm, less than half an hour after she spoke with Opposition Leader Lawrence Springborg to suggest the move. He rejected it.
"If the Member for Toowoomba North is not acceptable to the Opposition Leader, we would also support the nomination of the Member for Warrego, or in fact any reasonable nomination from the LNP backbench, outside of the Member for Callide," Ms Palaszczuk said in her statement.
"This is a fair, reasonable proposition which I believe the Opposition should support."
Except it won't, with the Opposition calling on the government to come up with a reason, beyond "just not liking him", to reject Mr Seeney's nomination.
Mr Springborg pointed to the recent committee meeting held on Wednesday as proof Mr Seeney was "by far" the most experienced member and most appropriate choice for the chair role.
Mr Seeney, no stranger to parliamentary brawls, also shows no sign of backing down.
"The Premier has offered nothing but childish name calling to justify why my nomination as Chair of the PCCC should not be accepted," he said.
"That she is frightened of me, or just doesn't like me, doesn't change the fact I am by far, the most experienced and qualified person on the committee as was demonstrated at Monday's meeting."
But Labor, which has to give its support for the nomination to be accepted, also refuses to back down.
"Should this proposal not be accepted by the Opposition, they will stand condemned for their failure to reach a reasonable compromise on this issue," Ms Palaszczuk said.
