Drizzly conditions contributed to one of the worst commutes into Brisbane for some time, with at least 11 major road crashes, five of them on the M1.
A truck rollover southbound through Rochedale South before 6am was one of the worst, backing traffic back to Woolloongabba.
Australian Traffic Network reporter Penny Dahl, who presents traffic reports for radio and TV stations said it was a shocker.
"It's probably the worst I've seen it on the M1 in a very long time, there were 24km of delays northbound at one stage," she said.
"You could have walked to work faster."

Single vehicle accidents were recorded at Belmont and Holland Park, a four car nose-to-tail at Eight Mile Plains and a crash at Miles Platting Road.
Prangs on the Gateway Motorway and Centenary Highway also saw traffic suffer, while the Bruce Highway got congested at North Lakes.
The Twitter hashtag #bnetraffic was used by frustrated drivers to vent about road trips that normally took 15 minutes turning into 90 minute epic sagas.
Traffic reports might be quicker this morning if we run thru roads that AREN'T congested to the moon & back #bnetraffic #blackmonday— Dave Andrews (@chopperdaveqld)
