NEITHER gender or age appear to be factors when it comes to young female bowhunter Jodie Jury competing against the rest of the field.

The 11-year-old has already been tipped as one of the most talented girls at the Mount Isa District Bowhunters Club, according to senior club member Tony Copelin.
“She’s only a cub but she is very good,” Copelin said.
“She can beat the seniors. Jodie just likes shooting against the blokes and having a go.”
Almost four years ago, Jodie moved to Mount Isa with her mother, Tania Grant, all the way from New Zealand and has since found her new passion.
With only a single year of bowhunting under her belt, the Happy Valley Primary School student now competes in the Cubs under-12 years age group.
Jodie, who has a pink Diamond bow, was unable to test her skills at the recent Australian Bowhunters Association Queensland State titles but will be raring to go when Mount Isa hosts the upcoming North Queensland Titles on June 7.
Jodie, who is an avid New Zealand All Blacks fan, has dreams of becoming a vet one day, which is particularly ironic considering the fake animal targets she aims at on a weekly basis.
“I have two dogs and one cat at home too,” Jodie said.
When the young bowhunter isn’t out in the bush shooting arrows, she will be hiding under her books or building something from scratch out of nothing.
“I love to read the Diary Of A Wimpy Kid book series and build stuff.”
