All players have showed amazing progress from the first day of the season to now.
Last weekend saw a well-supported bake sale with amazing sweet treats donated by the MIHA parents to help raise funds for a new public address system.
MIHA are well on the way to obtaining that PA system and hope to have it up and running in time for the Great Western Games, which will be held on July 18.
Entry to the games will be $5 per child and teams from other communities are most welcome to join the association during knockout-style competition.
Under 8
Mitch Pocock and Xander Crowther ruled the field to lead Pirates to a 3-0 victory over Aces.
Pirates player Billie Richardson showed amazing team work and supported Xander well in scoring a goal on his birthday.
Aces put up a strong fight with Destinee Philip and Minke Adendorff doing well in their positions showing amazing passing skills.
Miah Starr once again led her Hornets team to a 2-1 victory over T-Birds.
Hornets players Beau and Gabe Kelly formed a great defence team in support of Miah.
T-Birds put up a great fight with newcomer Matthew Armstrong managing to get his first ever goal.
Matthew’s sister Jocelyn and Lucy Maslin showed good team work, however T-Birds was unable to take the game back.
Under 11
Tom Maslin and Will Garland lead the way for T-Birds in their 3-1 win over Hornets.
Lucy Maslin supported her brother well in defence while Ryan Philp’s passing skills showed big improvement. Hornets made a very good attempt at a possible comeback with great defence and support skills from Georgia Dakin and Jorja Kelly while CJ Kahui scored his first goal of the season, and only goal for his team.
Pirates triumphed 6-0 over Aces with Kyle Bartolo, Luke Bartolo, and Will Brewster standing out in defence for the winning team.
Aces players Davey Saunders and Ceanne Cameron were their team’s best performers while Brock Philip showed awesome defence skills in the goal again.
Pirates players Liam Marten and Dylan Jones also showed great sportsmanship and worked hard in supporting their goal scorers.
Under 15
Aces worked very hard to secure its first victory of the season courtesy of a Patrick Brogden goal against Pirates.
Step-in coach Elizabeth Darcy produced a commendable performance for her team for her first go at coaching.
Aces players Leo Schafer and Kyarna Milligan helped keep out the Pirates attack.
Pirates players Bailey Cliff and Zachary Crosato were also brilliant in defence.
Hornets and T-Birds played out an entertaining 1-1 draw, a game that ultimately demonstrated how far junior hockey has come over the years.
Bryce Benham scored the lone goal for T-Birds while Cooper Gunningham notched the equalised for Hornets.
All players from both teams showed great spirit, strong defence, and amazing tackling and passing skills.
