Young Guns will be out to avenge their 62-point loss the last time the two sides met, in round six of the Mount Isa AFL competition.
Lake Nash coach Rohan Webb expects to welcome back two key senior players to his line-up, which he believes will give his team every chance at knocking over the first-placed side.
“We’ve got some senior players back in, including Selwyn Teece and Nathan Ross in mid-centre field,” Webb said.
Webb said his team had been looking forward to this fixture for a long time and hoped to even things up.
“We’ve been more prepared for Tigers than the rest. We’ve talked about them quite a lot. The boys couldn’t wait for this game.”
Despite his side’s 38-point win over Buffaloes last week, Webb knows his team must still improve.
“We need to play a lot better than that (against Buffaloes). Our forward line needs to move up a bit more to help in defence.”
Tigers coach Craig Brice is lamenting what was a bitter-sweet victory last week after confirming that former Cargill Medallist Chris Downes (broken arm), Jarryd Harrison (concussion) and Nick Aberline (work) are all unavailable.
“We’ve lost a bit of midfield pace and some quality defenders so we’re probably not as confident as we’d like to be,” Brice said.
Brice is excited for what is bound to be his toughest test yet against an in-form Young Guns side.
“It’s going to be a really good game, I think. Young Guns have stepped their game up and we’re looking forward to the challenge, no doubt.”
“We’ve just got to maintain possession of the footy and slow it down.”
