The 53-year-old male driver was under the influence of drugs and also found with a small bag of cannabis at 8.50am, east of Cloncurry.
The driver is expected to appear in the Cloncurry Magistrates Court.
Mount Isa Police Inspector Trevor Kidd said the containers of white powder were believed to be the illicit drug, although it needed to be confirmed through further test results.
The road train driver was caught on the fourth day of the operation of Austrans, during which police have targeted truck drivers.
Roadside drug testing and police units, the tactical crime squad, and the dog squad were stationed near Fisher Creek since Monday.
“There were eight positive drug test results in that period,” Inspector Kidd said.
Inspector Kidd warned police would crack down on driving influenced by drugs in the region.
He said the drug testing unit could pick up as many as three people a week driving on Mount Isa roads while influenced by drugs.
“I can’t emphasise strongly enough not to drive while affected by anything,” the Inspector said.
It was dangerous behaviour and could lead to tragedy.
“It will continue to be a major focus for us.
“Drug driving is no different (to drink driving), if they do that they will get caught.”
