That's how long the Gold Coast Suns have to wait for a chance to stop and take a breath in the midst of their disastrous year.

In between now and the bye they face all the grand finalists of the past three years in Hawthorn, Sydney and Fremantle.

Suns coach Rodney Eade said the players simply had to grit their teeth and hang in as more players hopefully filter back into the side after injuries.

"We've held together pretty well for such an inexperienced group," Eade said.

"Young guys don't know what they don't know and when you've got so many of them we're actually looking for guidance, so we've just got to hang in there."

With arguably seven of their top 10 players missing from the line up, the load has been left for rookies to bear.

"I think with our personnel out... the load's been carried by (Touk) Miller, (Kade) Kolodjashnij, blokes who have played one, two or three years and the load you see on them and even Rischa (Michael Rischitelli), that load becoming too much for them and there's not enough weight of numbers to be able to support them," he said.

"If the better players were in, they don't have to carry that load.

Eade said it was that burden of inexperience that led to several coast-to-coast goals for Collingwood, including two crucial majors in the third quarter after simple misses by the Suns.

"They've got no support around them experience-wise to be able to guide them in that situation."

Charlie Dixon finished with four goals and Eade praised the forward, who will be in demand as he comes off contract at the end of the year.

"He's probably a bit of, not a free spirit but a man that goes and plays footy," he said.

"He's really embracing the role he can play and the impact he's got on his teammates and he's really leading from the front.

"His effort, his willingness to chase and put pressure as well as giving us a target... full credit to him."

Alex Sexton is another that has stepped up in the past month and produced a solid performance against the Magpies.

The Suns could yet lose another two players with Dion Prestia (knee) and Trent McKenzie (hip) under injury clouds.
