Attorney-General Yvette D'Ath said she was almost finished filling the positions on the taskforce, which will review the former government's anti-association and VLAD laws, with just the chair position to be decided.

Queensland police, the police union, the Law Society and Bar Association have all been invited to put a representative forward, as have departmental staff.

But the outlaw motorcycle gangs only real lobbyist, the United Motorcycle Council, has not been invited to be part of the taskforce.

Instead Ms D'Ath said they were welcome to put forward a submission.

"We are not trying to have every person or every organisation that has an interest in this as a member," she said.

"We have set up a high profile taskforce but we would want input from other organisations as well.

"We want to hear from a range of bodies, including the CCC for that matter.  We have tried not to make it too big."

The terms of reference for the taskforce are yet to be finalised but it is understood they will revolve around whether the Newman Government laws provide adequate deterrence, will be successful in prosecution and create a balance between creating order and maintaining civil liberties.

But with the taskforce due to report back by the end of the year any change to the laws won't be enacted until next year.

The government will run a $6 million organised crime inquiry that will focus on organised crime as a whole but may have some overlap with the bikie taskforce.

The inquiry has been established but is yet to hold hearings. The Michael Byrnes QC headed inquiry is due to report back in October.
