Farah has embraced the hate that Gallen has carried on his shoulders for the best part of a decade and knows just how strong that resonates.

"They hate me but that's fine because I hate them just as much. That's how I want it," Farah told Fairfax Media.

"That's what Origin is about. That's the beauty of Origin, the tribal warfare. I don't like what they represent and they don't like what we represent."

It's that hate that provided NSW with the inspiration to end Queensland's eight-year Origin dominance last year.

It's moments like Cooper Cronk's 40-metre field goal in the 2012 decider at Suncorp Stadium just a fortnight after Farah lost his mother Sonia to pancreatic cancer that remind him of the pain the men in Maroon have inflicted.

That moment, when every sinew in Cooper Cronk's body came together in one perfect whole, as he so eloquently put it, represents the hate Farah feels for Queensland.

"That hate stems from all those years of watching them win, watching them celebrate," Farah said.

"That hurts. That's what spurs you along to get back there and change that. All those deciders. Up there in 2012, it was a pretty emotional game for me. Cooper Cronk kicked that field goal from 40 out. I thought we were coming home strong ... Then he pulled that field goal out that won them the series. That one in particular I can't forget.

"It took a while to recover from. That's why I have no doubt they'd hate us for what we did to them last year. They're a champion team and they're not going to take this laying down. They'll be hurting."
