The long-awaited Legacy Way tunnel will be one of the most expensive tolls in south-east Queensland by the time early discount periods end in May next year.

Car drivers taking advantage of the Toowong to Kelvin Grove shortcut will pay just $3 a trip when it opens, with an increase to $3.90 by November 16.
But that rate is scheduled to jump to $4.85 on May 2, 2016, when the standard price kicks in.
That's more expensive than current prices at the Gateway Motorway at Murarrie ($4.25), the Clem 7 ($4.78) and all but the longest route through the Airportlink ($5.11).
All other toll points throughout the south-east are significantly cheaper, ranging from $1.61 at Loganlea to $2.98 across the Go Between Bridge.
Legacy Way's toll charges were announced on Thursday but there was no mention of an opening date for the $1.5 billion roadway.
Costs for motorcyclists are similarly high compared with other routes, with an opening rate of $1.50 giving way to a full charge of $2.43 by May next year.
Riders now pay $2.13 on the Gateway, $2.39 in the Clem 7 and between $1.96 and $2.61 through the Airportink.
Light commercial drivers will slugged $7.28 per trip, compared with current tolls of $6.39 over the Gateway bridge and $7.18 through the Clem 7.
An opening discount down to $5.50 will apply until November 16.
Heavy commercial vehicle drivers will pay the full rate of $12.69 when the tunnel opens, with a CPI increase to $12.87 on July 1.
Existing toll points across the region will see a small price jump due to CPI on July 1.
Announcing the 4.6km tunnel's prices on Thursday, Transurban Queensland general manager Wes Ballantine said he was "delighted" to offer drivers a discounted toll period.
"Using Legacy Way, it will take just four minutes to get from the Western Freeway at Toowong to the ICB at Kelvin Grove – saving around 14 minutes and almost halving travel times between the Centenary Bridge and the ICB," Mr Ballantine said.
"Legacy Way also provides travel time certainty by enabling motorists to avoid seven sets of traffic lights, major roundabouts as well as bumper-to-bumper traffic on Coronation Drive and Milton Road."
Existing Go Via accounts and passes will work through the new tunnel.
The tunnel is expected to be open within a month but Brisbane Lord Mayor Graham Quirk recently told a council meeting he did not know when motorists would be able to drive through it.
