The water authority has released its 2015/16 price list, which shows a Brisbane home that consumes an average of 150 kilolitres a year could pay $1214 in bills.

QUU said it was increasing its water prices by 1.2 per cent, with the yet-to-be-determined State Government bulk water charge to be added.

Prices in Ipswich are forecast to rise by $30.91 a year, while there will be a marginal $2.42 increase for the Lockyer Valley.

Annual water and sewer prices look set to drop in Scenic Rim ($11.28), Somerset - Esk ($34.66) and Somerset - Kilcoy ($35.48).

QUU spokesman Michelle Cull said the authority would invest $229 million next financial year on sewerage and water assets.

"One of our most significant projects will be the construction of a new water and sewer main from Kenmore to Jindalee, which will involve tunnelling underneath the Brisbane River," Ms Cull said.

The Queensland Competition Authority expects there to be uniformed water prices across the south-east by the end of the decade.

In April, it presented a report to the state government recommending a common price of $2.82 per kilolitre, which would increase in line with inflation from 2017/18.

Earlier this year, QUU agreed to pay back $770 million in loans funded by the Brisbane City Council, with the money refinanced by the Queensland Treasury Corporation.

The council's Labor opposition questioned whether the deal would cause water prices to "shoot through the roof", however this was denied by Lord Mayor Graham Quirk.

"This will have no impact on QUU and its financial operations," he told a council meeting on May 5.

"There is absolutely nothing in this which would change or alter their intended pricing around the retail of the water."
