The two balaclava-clad men, one armed with a gun, entered a service station in Old Logan Road in Camira about 12.45am and attempted to open the cash register.
The station attendant locked himself in an office when he saw the pair approaching.
When they were unable to break into the cash register, they left empty-handed.
