A lacklustre 31-5 loss to the NSW Waratahs finally ended a season that has proved hard to watch, exhausting for players and exasperating for many Queensland fans.
After the team's worst on-field return since 2009, when they managed just three wins, there is sure to be major change at Ballymore.
There has been a "wide-ranging" review going on at the QRU led by former Wallabies Damien Frawley and Brett Robinson, with recommendations to be handed down this week.
Queensland powerbrokers guaranteed Richard Graham's position as head coach until the end of the season but his tenure as Reds coach is almost surely to be ended after just nine wins in 32 matches, a 28 per cent win rate.
Seventeen debutants were blooded for Queensland this season and only Will Genia and James Slipper managed to start in every match as the club battled to overcome injuries and suspensions.
Ahead of the 2016 season Queensland could have just eight players who featured in that 2011 grand final, with James Horwill, Will Genia and James Hanson leaving the club.
Quade Cooper's future is yet to be officially determined and utility back Ben Tapuai's future is also reportedly in another state.
It's a far cry from a side that looked to be building a dynasty around Cooper and Genia only four seasons ago.

2012
Queensland finish top of the Australian conference for a second season in a row before losing a semi-final to the Sharks. Quade Cooper is missing after rupturing his ACL in the 2011 World Cup but utility Mike Harris steps up in his absence. In a shock defection, Richard Graham comes across from the Force to team up with McKenzie at Ballymore, setting up a possible succession plan in the Reds' coaching ranks.
2013
Now director of rugby, Ewen McKenzie announces he is going to leave the Reds at the end of the Super Rugby season to pursue international coaching. Winger Digby Ioane opts to try his chances in French rugby, joining Stade Francais. A qualifying final loss to the Crusaders ends their year and McKenzie's involvement at the Reds, with the reins officially handed to Graham.
2014
After just five wins for the year the worst kept recruiting secrets in history are confirmed with Karmichael Hunt and James O'Connor announced as marquee recruits at the Reds gala ball in August. A new air of optimism surrounds Ballymore at the prospect of the pair teaming up with Will Genia and Quade Cooper.
2015
Injuries overwhelmed the Reds but inconsistency and aimlessness was a greater concern on the field. A QRU review begins into all areas of the organisation's high performance department. Already this has seen the appointment of John Connolly as a coaching consultant and Brad Thorn as a specialist forwards coach. Richard Graham's position as head coach is under question, with the review to be handed down after the end of the Super Rugby season.
Now?
Queensland's review has already brought in some new faces but the most important is who is handed the long-term coaching reins. If that appointment is correct as McKenzie's proved to be at the end of 2009, then history shows there can be a very quick turnaround.
