Steele is a chance to make his debut for the Giants against North Melbourne at the Sydney Showgrounds on Saturday, with GWS midfielder Stephen Coniglio (shoulder) expected to miss the Kangaroos game.

Coniglio will see a specialist on Tuesday after he came off in the fourth quarter against Collingwood on Sunday with an AC-joint problem.

He's one of a number of key players the Giants could be without against North, with concerns over co-captain Phil Davis (ankle), defender Joel Patfull (ribs) and ruckman Shane Mumford (ankle) as well.

Patfull is expected to miss at least a month with two broken ribs and a punctured lung, while Davis and Mumford will also see specialists on Tuesday.

Steele could come in to replace Coniglio, although the experienced Rhys Palmer is another option.

The Canberra product has come close to debuting already this season, having been named as an emergency  five weeks in a row.

He almost played against reigning premiers Hawthorn, but midfielder Adam Treloar battled through gastro to play a starring role in the historic win for the Giants.

Power was one of the stars in the Brisbane Lions golden era, but is now the midfield coach for GWS.

He said Steele had impressed from the moment he joined the club at the end of last year.

"Yeah, we think he's ready. From the first day, he'd got this amazing ability to be able to be able to get the ball in traffic and be able to get his hands free," Power said.

"For such a young payer to be doing that against men already, it's quite impressive.

"We think he's ready. Physically he does that and he can match players with that side of it, but he can also run, which is really important in the modern game.

"Usually it takes players a long time to be able to build their tank up for AFL level, but he's certainly come with a really impressive tank already.

"We're rapped with the way he's going with his development."

The fifth-placed Giants will be looking to bounce back against the Roos after a disappointing loss to Collingwood on the weekend.
