The thick fog reduced visibility in the CBD to a few hundred metres.
Brisbane's CityCat, CityHopper, Norman Park and Eagle Street cross river ferries were suspended until about 9.15am, until the flog cleared enough for services to resume.
A TransLink spokesman said passengers could expect delays of about 20 minutes.
Conditions were worse at the Brisbane Airport, where about 20 flights arriving were delayed, while at least 10 departures were either delayed or cancelled.

Bureau of Meteorology forecaster Michelle Berry said June was a peak period for fog in Queensland.
"It's pretty extensive and quite thick. It's throughout most of south-east Queensland, including the Brisbane Airport," she said.
"We should see it lifting from 9am to mid to late morning, once the sun comes up."
Sunny conditions are tipped when the fog clears, with a top of 22 degrees expected for Brisbane. Conditions are forecast to be similar for the Gold and Sunshine coasts.
