Every week, a group of Mount Isa men dedicate their time to raise money for those in need by selling raffle tickets at the Buffs Club as part of the 51 Lodge.
A Duchess 51 Lodge spokesperson said numbers were dwindling and to ensure their traditions were carried on they were putting the call out for more men to join their ranks.
BushKids Family Health Support worker Lynette Stenhouse said the donation would go to helping Mount Isa kids.
“Thank you for the kind donation,” she said.
“This will go towards supporting families accessing our services in Mount Isa.”
“We will be able to purchase therapy and group session resources.”
The other recipient of the donation was the Good Shepherd Parish.
Parish secretary Corena Powers said the money donated would help the drop-in Jangawala Kitchen, a meeting place that feeds the homeless and poor.
“We don’t have a budget to run the kitchen. It survives purely on donation,” she said. “We can serve about 200 meals a week.”
