A TOTAL of 521 people from the North West, interstate and even overseas came through the gates to enjoy a six-race program at the McKinlay races last Saturday. With $25,000 prizemoney for the BHP Billiton McKinlay cup Open Handicap (1800m) plus a trophy donated by Bull Creek Santa Gertrudis, the on-track action rivalled the fun had by all off the track. McKinlay race club would like to thank all of its sponsors for a very successful day of racing with 64 horses starting. Sponsors included Curley Cattle Transport, IOR Petroleum, FMR Eloise copper Mine, Minotaur Exploration, BHP Billiton and Brodie Hardware. They would also like to thank the other businesses who donated prizes for fashions on the field and the footraces, plus all those who help to make the day the success that McKinlay always proves to be.
