The sporting year of 2014 will be remembered for many things - LeBron James going home, Hawthorn going back-to-back, the English cricket team going back to the Old Dart a shambles, Rory McIlroy going "bang" and us going out on a limb and naming Blind All-Australian teams.

You may - or may not - remember that last one. Three unassuming footy fans trying to right the wrongs of the real selectors and pick All-Australian teams completely without the use of statistics.

And now we're back and at it again, with the addition of some much-needed credibility in the form of two-time AFL premiership player and toothpaste bathing advocate Peter Bell.

A reminder of the ground rules:

• No use of stats, whatsoever
• Pick players in positions they actually play (obviously treated as an optional extra by some selectors!)
• No using All-Australian shortlists (clearly not an issue mid-season)
• Pick the coach who has done the best job, not just the one with the best record
• No Alex Rance under any circumstances. Oh wait, that's only my personal rule.

And so, with due acknowledgment of the fact we've all probably watched more Dockers and Eagles games than any other team and that I've still never seen a GWS game in its entirety, here goes:

I'll cop the most stick for...leaving out Shane Mumford. But I was swayed by the fact he won't play again this year.

Expecting a bashing over Bachar.

Biggest surprise: the old Saints reborn - David Armitage and Leigh Montagna. Both are having probably the best seasons of their careers.
I'll cop the most stick for...Bachar Houli.

I'll cop the most stick for...Tyson Goldsack. But every time I switch over to a Collingwood game, he's doing the business.

Bob Murphy. Not such a big wrap for his writing but he's played super this year.

Biggest surprise: Picking Bob Murphy messed with my head, simply because I don't enjoy his writing. But he's had a standout year, so he deserves his spot at the tender age of 33.
