Brisbane and Queensland Maroons forward Sam Thaiday is the latest Bronco to be rested during the Origin period, after Justin Hodges and Corey Parker were left out of the side that beat the Storm on Sunday.

The trio were also rested in the matches after Origin I last month.

With a short turnaround ahead of their Knights match this weekend and the Origin decider just a fortnight away, Bennett said strategic resting of players would be the only way to navigate the representative period and through a difficult run home.

His side, which hasn't lost a game in the past month despite the representative disruptions, could be vulnerable against a second-last Newcastle team, he said.

"They've had a pretty rough eight or 10 weeks now, they'll be wanting to get it right and we're a bit vulnerable right now.

"We're coming into the end of Origin but it's not over yet so we've got to make sure we've got our heads on our shoulders and just get the job done."

After the July 8 Origin series closer, Brisbane plays five sides currently in the top eight, including the Bulldogs twice and Bennett was quick to play up the difficulty of that draw, though many of their opponents might be more fearful of Brisbane.

"It's the other side as well that we've got to come out of, so it's still not over for us.

"But another two or three weeks we would be pretty much clear of it and the hangover as well from the fatigue part of it ... but because we know we're resting players and doing that that's going to help us enormously.

"In the past when you looked at the draw you'd look for easy games around this time of the year but there's no easy games anymore so you just accept what it is."

Bennett said series debutant Josh McGuire would not be immune from the grind.

"He'd be a guy I'd be a little bit concerned about later on but he's good at the moment," he said.

"Playing off the interchange bench (for Queensland)...helps him a little bit as they don't play as much time."
