They all believe Jack Riewoldt is in the best form of his nine-year career.
Riewoldt, 26, kicked six goals at the SCG on Friday night, driving Richmond to a momentous 18-point victory over Sydney, achieved after the Tigers overcame a 32-point half-time deficit.
The dual Coleman medallist has spending large chunks of game time up the ground in the past six weeks, but gave a reminder of his ability close to goal as Richmond notched their seventh win of the year, four of which have come outside Victoria.
Tigers coach Hardwick had little doubt as to how much Riewoldt's game had grown.
"I think he's having by far his best season, since I've been at the club anyway," Hardwick told 3AW on Saturday.
"He's won Colemans in that time, but his consistency level in performance has grown and game has improved. Defensively he's been nothing short of outstanding so far."
Hardwick also floated the somewhat scary proposition that the best may be yet to come.
"He's still got a long way to improve as well from our point of view."
Joining the chorus of praise were two of the game's great key forwards of the past. North Melbourne icon Carey said he had never seen Riewoldt work harder around the ground.
"I think he's playing the best footy of his career," Carey said on Triple M. "It's all about workrate, the way he's getting around the ground, the work that he puts in before he takes marks.
"He led last night, a zig-zag lead, he led up the corridor, then did a U-Turn and led back, floated across the back and took a really good mark.
"He's actually gone to another level. I think his decision making, the way he uses his ball, his leadership. He is a future leader of this footy club."
Hawthorn champion Brereton also noticed Riewoldt's persistence.
"He's probably played better statistical games, he's probably kicked more goals, he's probably been more theatrical and from a viewer's point of view more magical to watch. But right now, he is playing the best team football of his career," Brereton said on SEN. "I still don't think he's beat over his man, beat him for work, effort, but what he's doing now is giving everything he's got to the team cause, and I reckon ... his teammates are really appreciating that."
Having emerged well from a challenging run, the in-form Tigers face Greater Western Sydney (MCG), Carlton (MCG) and St Kilda (Etihad Stadium) in the next three weeks.
