The Irish Club 303s remain the leaders of the pack after relinquishing only one frame to defeat the undermanned Club Demons during round 15 of the Mount Isa Pool Association.
The win pushes the 303s to a 25-point ladder lead on the Outlaws with a match in-hand for first spot.
The Demons have a date with stablemate Club Hustlers next round and hope to be more competitive to ensure they don’t fall further down the table.
CLUB HUSTLERS 11 (Steve Healy 2; Garth Apps 2; Eggy Eggmolesse 1) DEFEATED IRISH CLUB OUTLAWS 6 (Pierre Pardo 2; Ian Nathan 1)
The Irish Club Outlaws and the Club Hustlers remain unchanged on the ladder, in second and fifth spots respectively.
That said, underdogs Hustlers are sneaking under the radar with their third win in a row in an impressive 11-6 win over the Outlaws.
The balance of both teams looked good early as the three-all scoreline was a fair reflection. Outlaws’ Troy Anderson and Ian Nathan played well, while Pierre Pardo took two singles.
On the other side of the felt, Hustlers’ Garth Apps, Steve Healy, and Heath McAnally played perfectly for a 7-4 advantage.
Pardo kept his side in it but the Hustlers took two-of-three doubles for the win and a shot at a top-four berth in weeks to come.
BOWLING ALLEY CPR 12 (Lester Armstrong 2; Leslie Smith 2; Gunther Czmok 2) DEFEATED BARKLY MISCUES
The Bowling Alley CPR clawed their way up to sixth place with a handy 12-5 defeat of the Barkly Miscues, who fought off absence and injury to rebound from a four-nil deficit to make it a contest. The Miscues won four-of-five for a 5-4 deficit at one point in the match, but the CPR was classy in closing out the day. Gunther Czmok led the way with two good frames, while Leslie Smith and Lester Armstrong kept their good form going.
BUFFS JMI 13 (James Ghee 2; Frank Gatto 2; Andy Allen 2) DEFEATED OVERLANDER NEW STARS 4
Luck wasn’t on the side of the Overlander New Stars as they went down to the defiant Buffs JMI 13-4.
On paper, it was a mismatch, although the New Stars did take some impressive frames away from the JMI to stop them sneaking up to third place on the ladder.
Overall, the JMI were solid with James Ghee, Andy Allen, and Frank Gatto leading the way.
