Unfortunately in Tuesday night's EJ Whitten Legends Game, it was more like a recipe for diaster - or he at least paid the price for trying to entertain the 25,000-plus fans at Etihad Stadium and TV viewers at home.
In the second quarter of the charity match, the former Demons high-flyer was presented with an irresistible chance to take one more hanger, as his "All Stars" team-mate Mark "Frosty" Winterbottom provided the long ball to the top of the square and "Vics" opponent Chris Johnson provided the step ladder.
Roberston launched himself in familiar fashion, bringing the crowd to their feet, however not only did he not complete the grab, he knocked himself out as he lost control of his leap and fell backwards into the turf.
Play was stopped as the 36-year-old got to his feet, stumbled for a few moments, and then was eventually taken off - although Robertson was reported to be in good spirits after the game.
