The Mount Isa-based bowls pair came from behind in the grand final against Bob Morgan and Rob Peters, taking out the decider 21-16.
Team Vonhoff fell behind early by 12 shots after six ends but had some consistent bowling from Hedge to thank for taking the next seven ends for a 16-12 lead.
The next four ends were evenly matched between the two teams with Team Morgan scoring four shots against Team Vonhoff’s three shots holding a 19-16 lead with one end to go.
Chasing three shots at least to tie the game, it was not meant to be for Team Morgan, which gave up two more shots in handing the title to Team Vonhoff.
Vonhoff and Hedge will now compete for the North West District team against the best of the Cairns and Townsville Districts in the Zone 8 playoffs held in Mount Isa in September.
NWQDBA president Rod Jolly said it was a great two days of bowls and pleasing to see 14 teams competing this year.
With the high number of teams competing, the round robin tournament was split into three sections with two groups of four teams in addition to a group of six teams.
The winning team from the two groups of four teams went head-to-head in a preliminary final while the winning team from the group of six went straight into the grand final.
The next event for the bowlers is the Leichhardt Services Triples prizemoney event on July 4-5.
