St George Illawarra have been deeply impacted by injuries and Origin selection, with Joel Thompson, Dylan Farrell, Tyson Frizell and Jack de Belin joining Origin duo Trent Merrin and Josh Dugan on the sidelines. Will Matthews was named but won't play after being suspended, while Frizell is an outside chance of being included. The Cowboys will need to trim an extended interchange bench.
The Sharks will be without the suspended Michael Ennis who has joined the Blues squad in Coffs Harbour. Ennis is likely to be replaced by Pat Politoni in the team to play Manly. Despite being named in jersey No. 22, Josh Starling is expected to be on the bench for the Sea Eagles.
