Walsh was found dead in his Somerton home in South Australia at 2am on Friday after a domestic dispute involving his 26-year-old son. His son has been arrested and is undergoing psychiatric testing. Walsh's wife is also in hospital after being stabbed but has non life-threatening wounds.

The AFL has yet to confirm whether the Crows' clash against Geelong should go ahead at the Adelaide Oval on Sunday - but Carr Gregg said it should.

"I think that would be a great opportunity to ritualise this loss because I think that one of the ways that we can begin to work through the task of grief is acknowledge that it has happened," he said.

"One way of doing it is by having some type of very sombre, short, sharp acknowledgement of what has happened and give people the opportunity to grieve together."

Speaking on Channel Seven, Carr-Gregg said the Crows had the task of helping their players grieve.

"I think the most important thing is to talk to them about how they are feeling, basically help them to say goodbye. Everyone person has a different way of remembering someone who is important to them and I think that some people need that individuality - there is no one size that fits at all," he said.

"They have a match coming up which could be very, very difficult. If I was the psychologist, I would be using the memory and affection that these players had to motivate them and play their hearts out."

Former Crows coach Graham Cornes, who lives a street away from Walsh, said the death "had hit everybody hard".

"Everybody is just trying to deal with it. It's not just a footy club, it's a whole state when you think about it," he said.
