It sounds like the simplest way to enjoy some downtime but the Queensland Labor MP cannot find time to do it.
The same goes for bushwalking or playing golf, both past times the holder of one of the most marginal seats in the country said goodbye to when he entered Parliament in 2007.
It is unknown whether Liberal MP Don Randall's job in any way contributed to his death from a suspected heart attack.
But it has prompted Mr Perrett and other MPs to question the side-effects of the political lifestyle.
The constant travel and media scrutiny, the pressure, the struggle to exercise and maintain a healthy diet and the lack of contact with friends and family is a form guide to how not to be healthy.

Most try to find time for exercise.
Prime Minister Tony Abbott and Foreign Minister Julie Bishop speak often about their devotion to exercise not only for its physical benefits but for the mental balance it gives them.
"[Exercise] is mental therapy for me so I think it's very important that I get as much exercise as I can to ensure I have a stable mind for politics," Mr Abbott said in 2011 after completing an ironman competition.
Come sitting weeks and the Parliament House gym, swimming pool and squash courts are crowded. Certain time periods are blocked out for the exclusive use of MPs to give them time when they are not being watched and questioned.
At the entry to the gym is a picture of Labor MP Greg Wilton, who committed suicide in 2000.
His name along with those of former Speaker Peter Slipper, Craig Thomson and Nick Sherry are all mentioned by MPs wary of the toll their careers take on themselves and those they are closest to.
The stress each faced as a result of their political careers prompted MPs to rethink their behaviour towards each other, albeit briefly.
Former veterans' affairs minister Alan Griffin says changing the adversarial nature of politics is unrealistic.
"It's a combat environment," Mr Griffin says.
Mr Griffin, who has clocked up 22 years in Parliament, says politicians and other public figures share a unique job requirement of constantly being watched, something that has only increased in the age of social media where everyone has access to a camera and an instant publishing platform.
"Even when you're only a minor pissant a lot of people still know who you are."
Mr Griffin recalls trying to give up smoking under the watchful gaze of the public.
"I didn't just chew them, I was mainlining them," Mr Griffin says of his switch to Nicorettes.
He attended an Anzac Day ceremony and a member of the public called his local paper to complain about his disrespectful chewing.
Mr Griffin does not complain about the public gaze. It comes with the territory. But he does tire of it.
One MP was forced to announce her pregnancy after a member of the public saw her in the waiting room of an obstetrician and called the local newspaper.
Mr Perrett considers himself luckier than many.
He gives thanks he has a supportive family to go home to even if, he ruefully points out, he reckons he has had more dinners at the Chinese restaurant across the road from his office than at home.
"At the baby MP talk I went to in 2007 someone said they put on one kilo a month for 13 months," Mr Perrett recalls.
"The pastors told us that 85 per cent of MPs' relationships bust up and we're pretty much on track for that if I look at my class."
