Starting on Thursday night with the Alliance Airlines street parade, organisers have confirmed two more exciting additions to the schedule in the form of a guest appearance by renowned poet and balladeer Brenda Joy at the Bush Poets Breakfast and the hosting of the conclusion of the David Morris Reason to Ride event.
A relaxed morning to kick start the weekends action, the Bush Poet’s Breakfast July 31 will see budding poets, yarn spinners and joke tellers enjoy a delicious bush style breakfast joined by Brenda as special guest judge, Emcee and performer. A renowned, awarded and published performance poet and balladeer with poems and songs forming parts of individual and group collections throughout Australia, Brenda looks forward to being part of the mornings activities commencing at 7.30am at the Cloncurry Community Precinct.
Leading on from the morning’s Bush Poets Breakfast, festival goers and the local community are invited to make their way back to the community precinct to welcome the riders of the David Morris Reason to Ride event.
An endurance cycling charity ride commencing in Townsville on July 27th, arrival in the township of Cloncurry around 11.30am will mark the end to the five day-800km ride.
Raising awareness of the research being performed by Sydney-based, world expert in cancer surgery, Professor David Morris, co-organiser and David Morris Reason to Ride Committee member Gillian Gilmore said “they chose the North West route to highlight Professor Morris and the many riders’ passions for ensuring all patients, regardless of their geographic location, access the care they require”.
