In a top-of-the-table clash, Parkside’s defence pairing of Simone Martin and Angela French was rarely unsettled, boasting an ongoing statistic of only conceding seven goals in the last 12 games.
Krystal Santos was first on the scoreboard for Parkside after some great pressure forced the Tigers’ goal keeper to drop the ball, which Santos slotted from close range.
Parkside’s Kerri Glover scored the goal of the night and her team’s second, with a spectacular chip shot from 25 yards out clearing the Tigers’ goal keeper.
Rhiannon Howard kept Parkside’s oppression on its opponents with a well-placed strike that had the Tigers keeper at full stretch to save it.
But Tigers had the last say in the tie, scoring a consolation goal with the final whistle blown at 2-1.
Parkside coach Jason Howard was pleased after his team officially claimed the minor premiership.
“Our undefeated run continues and hopefully we can keep it going to the finals,” Howard said.
“All our players should be back from now on so we should be at full-strength come finals.
“The girls have gelled well and always play for each other.
“They have all enjoyed playing together this year.”
In the earlier game, Isaroos kept a clean sheet in its 3-0 victory over International thanks to a brace from skipper Sarah Astbury.
Wendy Hamilton sealed the victory with a few minutes to go until full-time in a game where the win was built on defence, according to Astbury.
“Our defence was solid tonight,” Astbury said.
“We are looking strong coming into the final games.
“The girls have been training very hard and I expect great things from them in the finals run.”
