Davis suffered a strained ankle ligament in the loss to Collingwood in June but got through the Giants' main training session on Thursday and was named in an extended squad of 25.

Assuming he pulls up well on Friday he will travel with the side to Perth on Friday night.

"Phil Davis has rehabbed really well the last six weeks and is keen to get back and play some good footy in the back half of the year," coach Leon Cameron said.

Davis is one of six inclusions to the extended squad, including Nathan Wilson, Matt Buntine and Will Hoskin-Elliott.

"Hoskin-Elliott has been in really good form and so has Nathan Wilson just to name a few," Cameron said.

"We've just got to go over and play better footy than what we contributed last week. We've got to bounce back against the Dockers. It's obviously a huge challenge against the Dockers."

The Giants will be without forward Devon Smith, who hurt his knee late in the loss to Geelong last round, as well as defenders Nick Haynes and Zac Williams.

The Giants have traditionally struggled in Perth and Cameron is expecting no favours on Sunday.

"It hasn't been a happy hunting ground for us whether we play the Eagles or the Dockers," he said.

"Part of our improvement this year is 120 minutes of footy, whether we win the game or lose the game is irrelevant at times.

"We've done it for most of the year and we have to do it against a really good, quality side in Fremantle. We've just got to play good footy in all parts of the ground."
