And Evans has received support from Kasiano, who declared he "loved" the confrontation. The NRL's match review committee will decide on Monday if a penalty is sufficient punishment for Evans, who was placed on report for the thunderous hit. Evans may be cleared because he did not make contact with the head of Kasiano.  The match review committee will also explore whether there was any whiplash suffered in the collision.

While Kasiano was rocked and placed on his backside, the Canterbury prop said there was nothing wrong with the heavy shot. The tackle started an exchange between the two.

"I loved it, man! It was a good hit," Kasiano said. "He carried on, but I just said, 'Good hit'. That was about it. I wanted to go again. I wanted him to run at me so I could do the same thing back."

A grade-one shoulder charge could see Evans sidelined for two weeks. Kasiano said he would have no gripes if Evans was cleared to play for the Roosters in their next game against the Knights on Sunday.

"That's up to the NRL," Kasiano said.  "The shoulder charge is illegal now but I wish it was legal still. I miss it a lot. I have no bad feelings [towards him]. If he plays [next week], he plays, I don't care."

Kasiano's Canterbury captain James Graham also expressed his surprise at the tackle being penalised during the Roosters' 38-28 win. The tackle would have been legal before the shoulder charge was banned in 2013.

While sections of the rugby league fraternity have called for the reintroduction of the shoulder charge following Evans' tackle, Roosters coach Trent Robinson believes the game's authorities have made the right call in banning the tackle.

NRL's head of football Todd Greenberg repeated the code's stance against any shoulder charge tackles.

"It's pretty simple, the decision is made and there is no going back," Greenberg told Triple M. "It's a bit like asking the referee to change his mind in the middle of a game. It's not going to happen. The rule is in place for a reason. That reason is relatively simple, it's about player safety. We should make no apologies for that."

Brisbane's Adam Blair was rubbed out for two games when he pleaded guilty to a grade two shoulder charge last week. Greenberg said the risk of injury while attempting a shoulder charge was too great.

"While I understand the shoulder [charge] looks fantastic sometimes and it's spectacular, the facts are these, that it has an extremely high [chance] for that tackle to go wrong," Greenberg said. "The margin for error  in a shoulder charge can be catastrophic."

The Roosters are set to be without prop Sam Moa for an extended time after he dislocated his wrist on Friday night.
