Leaked medical documents reportedly show one in seven athletes of 5000 blood tested between 2001 and 2012 have returned highly abnormal results, with an Australian expert concluding they indicated blood doping.
Obtained by Britain's Sunday Times and German broadcaster ARD/WRD, the records are the largest examples of suspected doping the sport has seen.
The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) was "alarmed" by the allegations, which have been described as "serious as cycling of two decades ago".
Brisbane's Wruck, who is leaving next week for this month's Athletic World Championships in Beijing, said he was not surprised by the allegations.
"I'm only surprised they've found a means to catch these athletes because most of the time a lot of the athletes over many years and coaches...have systems to get past tests.
"There's an internal 'yes, they've finally caught someone!' but at the same time it's not going to mean much," he said.
Wruck competed in the 2012 London Olympics after a season wrecked by glandular fever and said he had begun to accept the existence of drug-affected athletes in competition.
"Yeah it used to to frustrate me a lot more," he said.
"Personally, I'm not really in the sport to win after a long period of time I've found I'm enjoying just throwing and doing as well as I can.
"A lot of athletes care a lot about winning and medals and their ranking, so for them it's a really big deal.
"In the past, I've been a little bit frustrated to have lost to athletes who have tested positive but I can't really say much for other athletes."
Wruck said it was an opportunity for athletics to take positive steps in regards to doping.
"I like the idea that progress is being made, it's really just a battle," he said.
Athletics Australia on Monday welcomed WADA's decision to look into the allegations, with athletes from Russia and Kenya allegedly under the microscope.
"The contents of the articles is alarming," AA said in a statement.
"Athletics Australia is currently working to ascertain further information about the alleged leaked IAAF test reports that have been obtained to form the basis of the articles.
"The accusations made must be properly investigated. We welcome the World Anti-Doping Agency's decision to probe the allegations made."
Australian Olympic Committee chairman John Coates described the allegations as " disturbing" and said the AOC had a zero tolerance policy towards doping.
